Garmin employs multi-GNSS satellite support to automatically record surface entrance and exit locations, with data saved in Garmin's Dive app, where you can analyse your dives and fiddle with the watch's settings. It has the same 10 ATM water resistance as the Instinct and other Descent watches, allowing it to be submerged up to 100 metres. The Descent G1 has solar charging capabilities thanks to leakproof inductive buttons and a Power Sapphire lens. When solar charging is used, the battery life increases to up to 25 hours in diving mode, 3 weeks in smartwatch mode, and up to 4 months in smartwatch mode.
For instance, the more expensive Descent Mk2 gives up to 80 hours of dive time, so there's a difference there. Aside from dive time, there's Garmin Pay functionality, the ability to get notifications, and complete access to the Connect IQ store. The Descent G1 is now available in both solar and non-solar versions, with the solar edition costing Rs. 42,034 and the non-solar edition costing Rs. 49,677.
