According to Counterpoint Research, Indian firms account for over 75% of smartwatch shipments in the nation. While Noise dominated the market throughout 2021, Boat took the top spot in the fourth quarter.
Aside from that, the Indian wristwatch industry has roughly 80 brands, 10 of which have already joined in 2021. About 78 percent of orders for the top corporations came from online channels, with e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Amazon accounting for 48 percent and 43 percent, respectively.
Anshika Jain, a senior research analyst at Counterpoint said that more than 86 percent of overall shipments were driven by the sub-INR 5,000 price bracket, compared to 59 percent the previous year. Many of the capabilities that were previously only available in smartwatches priced between INR 3,000 and INR 5,000 are now available in the INR 2,000 to INR 3,000 range, including SPO2, blood pressure monitoring, voice assistance, and a bigger display.
Even capabilities that were previously only available in expensive smartwatches, such as ECG and Bluetooth calling, are now available in smartwatches under INR 5,000.
