Over 1 million Fitbit Iconic smartwatches have been recalled. The smartwatch manufacturer has said that it is collaborating with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall its Iconic model.In the United States, Fitbit had received over 115 reports of the watch's battery overheating and 78 claims of burn injuries.Fitbit has also received two reports of third-degree burns and four cases of second-degree burns, in addition to the 78 incidents of burns.Fitbit has announced that the Ionic wristwatch is being recalled because the lithium-ion battery in the device might overheat, creating a burn danger.

""Customer safety is always Fitbit's first priority, and we're undertaking a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches out of an abundance of caution,"" Fitbit said in a statement. Fitbit further stated that the recorded incidents barely account for 0.01 percent of all devices sold. According to FitBit's sales estimates, over 1 million Iconic smartwatches have been sold in the United States, with another 693,000 sold overseas. Users should cease using the recalled Ionic smartwatches immediately and contact Fitbit for pre-paid shipping labels to return the item.

Consumers will receive a $299 refund after receiving the equipment, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.FitBit is available for $200 to $330 at Best Buy, Kohl's, Target, and other retailers nationwide, as well as online at Amazon.com and Fitbit.com from September 2017 through December 2021.The Fitbit Ionic smartwatch was discontinued in 2020.
