Take your VR gaming to a whole new level with the Oculus Rift headset. Though it is one of the early launched models, it is still popular in the gaming community. This VR headset is affordable, which makes it a good choice for beginners and hobbyists.
Design and Build
The headset is lightweight and offers a comfortable fit. Pull the cord that runs on one side of the headset to adjust the fit. The headset is designed to fit all face shapes and sizes. However, the downside is that the headset is not designed for spectacle users.The Oculus Rift headset is built with adjustable ear pieces that deliver spatial sound effect. The earphones are built with passive noise isolation feature to deliver an immersive audio experience. The earphones have soft-feeling rubber that are gentle on the inside of your ears. So, you can wear the earphones for hours at a stretch without much discomfort.The Oculus Rift headset has two OLED displays that have a resolution of 2160 x 1200, refresh rate of 90 Hz, and work at 233 million pixels per second.The display delivers crisp images without screen door effect" that you may see in low-resolution displays. Three thumbnail images that denote comfort level appear on the screen during gameplay. A red diamond denotes highly intense experience, green circle a comfortable experience, and yellow square denotes a moderate experience.
Controllers
The controllers feature a half-moon design with menu, X and Y buttons on the left. The universal Oculus menu, A, and B buttons are on the right. The controllers have a thumb stick, a touchpad button, and a trigger stick. Each controller is powered by one AA battery.
Setup
The setup is simple and straightforward. First, you need to download Oculus software. While doing that, check if your headset has the latest firmware. Use HDMI and USB connectors to connect the device to the system.The bundle comes with sensors that you can place in your guardian area. You can also get a third sensor separately to set up 360-degree setup. During the setup, you also need to mark the perimeter or the guardian area.
