Michael Kors Access Lexington 2: Fashion and Technology
, by Anusiya M, 4 min reading time
The second generation Michael Kors Access Lexington is a Wear OS smartwatch built by Fossil group. This is a bold attempt by the fashion house, Michael Kors, to merge fashion and technology in the world of smartwatches. The Access MKGO and Access Bradshaw 2 are the other two smartwatches launched by MK and the three forms a trio of Fossil Gen5 smartwatches under Michael Kors brand. All the three models are on sale now. The smartest of the three is Access Lexington 2.This sporty looking smartwatch is more of a party wear than gym wear. Even though it is bulky with a 44mm case, it is a unisex watch. The price varies between 26,000 INR and 30,000 INR depending on the finish you choose.
Michael Kors Access Lexington 2: Design and variants
Depending on the color and design, the price varies. The lower-price spectrum includes stainless steel body in Silver-Tone, Gold-Tone, and Tri-Tone (silver, gold and rose gold) which costs 26,000 INR. The expensive one is a Pav Two-Tone option, which is remarkably flashy and costs 30,000 INR. The choice of the watch design is highly personal. The shiny, bejeweled watches from Michael Kors always had fans and cheaper version replicas were always available. This smartwatch is shiny and gaudy -- a statement made by MK. It is definitely not for those who like to keep it low! The Access Lexington 2 is incredibly designed with an amazing finish and brought to perfection with detailed craftsmanship.
The MK on the crown and the companys logo on the link lock is neatly implemented. The watch is bulky and is not overly comfortable. The strap does not go unnoticed either. Extra links that can extend the 22mm strap also come with the watch in case you need it bigger. There are a digital crown and two other buttons for the touchscreen controls which is a welcome inclusion. Scrolling through the menu and accessing other features are much easier with the rotating crown and the two buttons. The buttons can be configured to access the apps of your choice easily. The crown wakes the touchscreen, opens the apps and brings Google Assistant to you on long press. The touchscreen is 1.28-inches and has a resolution of 328ppi. The AMOLED display is sharp enough for full brightness or for the monochrome always-on display functionality.
Michael Kors Access Lexington 2: Features and Wear OS
The Wear OS can be a tough operating system to deal with except for a few useful features like notifications or Google pay. The hardware set up on the Lexington 2 makes the OS easier to use. On Lexington 2, you can choose from a range of watch faces which are available either on the watch itself or in the companion Wear OS app.Customization of the complications on these watch faces can be done on the MK Access app. MK Access app can be fired up instantly by tapping the top button. MK Social is another feature that brings you notifications from your social media accounts like Instagram and Facebook. The MK Access app also lets you personalize your watch and apply customizations. The watch is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 chipset with an 8GB storage and 1GB RAM - giving you a snappy, fluid performance. You can access calls from your wrist with the help of the tiny speaker. But you can take only the calls that are routed via the paired phone. There is no LTE on this smartwatch. The Google Assistant talks to you via this speaker. You can even use it to listen to music.
Michael Kors Access Lexington 2: Heart rate and sports
This Gen 5 Fossil smartwatch has all the sports features packed in it as the other Fossil Group watches, but it is not comfortable for workouts. Fossils hardware base focuses mainly on sports in Gen 5.Lexington 2 has the same GPS and heart rate tracker like the other smartwatches, MKGO or the Emporio Armani Smartwatch 3. It is water-resistant as well.
Michael Kors Access Lexington 2: Battery life
With the battery capacity of 310mAh, the maximum life of the smartwatch is 36 hours on a single charge. But heavy use which includes GPS, music streaming, too many notifications or keeping the screen on for a long time will drain the battery quickly and you may have to charge every day.On a positive note, the Qualcomm 3100 chip in Fossil Gen 5 smartwatches is really efficient with its battery saving modes. Like Garmin and Fitbit, you may not get week-long battery life. But if you are willing to minimize battery draining features like heart rate or always-on display, it can be extended up to two days.Blog posts
