Huawei is back in action after a long break of one and a half years. The new Huawei Watch GT is aiming at a totally different kind of customer.Instead of the Wear OS operating system, Huawei has packed its own operating system, Lite OS. Better battery life and lesser price are the other changes brought in by Huawei. The new Watch GT comes with a battery life of approximately 14 days and is priced at 14,500 INR.To find out more on the Huawei Watch GT which comes with surprising offers, you can read on the full verdict here.

Huawei Watch GT: Design

The Huawei Watch GT comes in two versions -- Sports version and a Classic version. The Sports model is cheaper and more masculine, whereas, the Classic model has a leather strap and comes in a silver finish. The screen is an AMOLED 1.39-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 454 x 454.There are two buttons to the right side of the bezel. Flipping through home, weather, heart rate and activity screens on Lite OS can be done by swiping. Even though the Watch GT is thinner than Huawei Watch 2(which is 12.6mm), it may not be a good looking watch on smaller wrists. Otherwise, it is a comfortable smartwatch to wear. The straps of both variants are comfortable during sleep and workouts as well as for regular use. It is interchangeable. For the Classic model, the leather strap has an inner lining of rubber which makes it a suitable wear for workouts. However, the Classic model of the smartwatch with 5ATM waterproof rating will require a change in the leather strap when you go swimming.

Huawei Watch GT: Lite OS

Lite OS is a major step away from Wear OS for Huawei. It is still in the process of improvement but it already surpasses most of its counterparts. According to Huawei, this is not walking out on Googles Wear OS but is only offering a substitute.Huaweis operating system is compatible with iOS and Android phones. The Watch GT makes sure that all the necessary features are available on your wrist instead of overloading with many apps, features and music playlists. There are four menu screens as mentioned before. The always-on heart rate monitoring will bring to you a detailed graph of your heart data. Huawei offers twelve watch faces to pick from. They are not customisable but there are watch faces that give information in detail. To start a workout, you need to go to the menu and there is a range of workouts you can pick from with an additional mode -- Other. You will have your workout history saved and can be accessed from the menu. Other features like compass, alarm and stopwatch, flashlight etc can also be accessed from here. The quick menu can be accessed by swiping the home screen up.The quick menu includes features like do not disturb option, always-on screen, find your phone option etc. You can take a look at the unread notifications by swiping the screen down. The software does not lag or hang. Altogether, Lite OS is a satisfying experience.

Huawei Watch GT: Activity tracking

Lite OS includes good activity trackers, heart rate monitors as well as sleep monitors in Huawei Watch GT. This watch can track many outdoor and indoor activities but mostly focussing on more popular activities such as swimming, running and cycling. The Huawei app measures the number of steps taken, calories burned and the distance. Calories burned are measured only for your activities and not throughout the day. The Huawei Watch GT has a good battery life which gives the liberty to do the tracking at night as well. You have the option to set the heart rate monitor to track your heart all day and night. You get elaborate sleep tracking feedback as well. The Watch GT has a problem in detecting wake up time. The light, deep and REM sleep tracking are almost consistent. The monthly, weekly and yearly averages of the data tracked, breathing quality and sleep score are all available in the Health app.

Huawei Watch GT: Sports tracking

In addition to the basic activities such as running, cycling and swimming, the Watch GT can also track cross country runningand hiking. There is a dedicated session, Running Course that focuses on training for running. Huaweis outdoor run tracking system is quite impressive. It provides every information of your activity such as pace, cadence, steps, progress(this is based on the distance and goal you set) etc. The app also records detailed graphs and elaborate information on your activity. The GPS of the Huawei Watch GT locks within a few seconds(around 10 seconds). The distance tracking is almost accurate which implies the accuracy of GPS.

Huawei Watch GT: Battery life

Huawei claims a battery life of up to two weeks on normal use. One full day with GPS on and one whole month without GPS but with the always-on display is the promise from the company. The users have reported that these promises are kept. The heart rate monitor switched on continuously can keep the battery on for about three weeks. The battery life of Watch GT is, in fact, a good thing from Huawei, considering the number of features it has.
