If a fresh leak is to be believed, a modest upgrade to the Xiaomi Mi Band 6 is on the way.

Only the basic version of the Xiaomi Mi Band 6 made it out of China when it was released in March 2021.

However, when a certification was found at Italian authorities, it appears that a Mi Band 6 NFC is on the road. According to Italian Xiaomi followers XiaomiToday, this is the case.

The model number XMSH16HM is mentioned in the listing, which corresponds to the NFC version of the band available in China.

As a result, we may expect a European release, as corporations seldom release items in single European countries. It would enable contactless payments directly from the wrist, making Xiaomi's flagship fitness tracker even more useful.

There's very little information regarding further features or whether there may be a 'Pro' version. This isn't surprising, considering that worldwide NFC versions of Mi Band devices have followed the standard band for most generations.

The Mi Band 4 NFC was only available in Russia, whereas the Mi Band 5 NFC was available worldwide. Perhaps, this indicates Xiaomi is planning a much wider rollout this time around.

So, because business has already collaborated with Mastercard for payment support, millions of users might benefit from wrist-based payments.

As we return to public transportation and emerge into the world as the epidemic eases internationally, having access to payments on the wrist is a compelling incentive to remain wearing a gadget.

Then that would put Xiaomi's flagship on level with Apple, Fitbit, and Google - we only hope it was available right away on Mi Bands. Perhaps next year, eh?
