Withings has released the ScanWatch Horizon, a new version of their health smartwatch that has been redesigned as a diving watch. The Withings ScanWatch was released in 2020, and it combined health tracking smarts with an analogue watch body with a month of battery life, similar to other Withings smartwatches, but in a diver's watch style. The 43mm wristwatch has a laser-engraved rotating bezel and bright hands with green or blue faces, and it's beautiful. The inset OLED display as well as the auxiliary activity goal dial are still used to show activity statistics and messages. It also costs Rs. 50, retaining the comforting cost of a genuine diving watch. Of course, Withings has increased the water resistance to 10ATM, allowing you to use it while snorkelling or swimming. Although, we're not sure it's rated for deep sea diving. In the box, you'll get stainless steel links and rubber sport bands. The Horizon is business as usual in terms of new features. It includes ECG and blood oxygen monitoring, as well as breathe monitoring and the detection of disorders including sleep apnea and afib. That's on top of basic heart rate monitoring, daily activity monitoring, and the ability to track runs using linked GPS (through smartphone) - despite the fact that ScanWatch devices have never been ideal running partners due to the lack of glanceable input. The ScanWatch Horizon also boasts 30 days of battery life between charges, making it a very different proposition than the Apple Watch Series 7 while yet delivering many of the same capabilities. Despite Withings' ability to strike a balance between analogue design and digital smarts, the business has had difficulty getting FDA approval, thus it has only been available in Europe. The introduction of the ScanWatch Horizon might indicate a shift in the company's strategy, allowing its finest products to reach their full potential.
