The Mi Watch Color 2 is a new version of Xiaomi's sporty wristwatch that was released in China. We doubt the original Mi Watch Color will ever leave China, and we doubt this one will as well. The Oppo Watch Free was also released in China this week, making it a busy week for Chinese launches. The Color 2's display has been increased from 1.39 to 1.42-inches, with a 326ppi AMOLED panel that should provide a clear and bright experience. Three case colours (white/blue/black) and six bands (white/blue/black plus yellow/orange/green as optional extras) are available. It has 117 built-in sports modes as well as a heart rate monitor to track your workouts. It also has dual-frequency GPS (GLONASS and BeiDou) and is waterproof to 50 metres. The PPG sensor includes a SpO2 sensor for measuring blood oxygen levels, as well as a variety of sleep and health monitoring features. NFC for mobile payments is included, as is the Xiao AI virtual assistant. The Color 2's battery life is perhaps the most important feature. There's a massive 470mAh battery on board, which offers 12 days of use without charging. Xiaomi's smartwatch strategy differs significantly from its Mi Band fitness tracker plan. In China, the Mi Watch Color was released, followed by the Mi Watch Color Revolve in India, and the Mi Watch Lite and Mi Watch in Europe. Unlike the Mi Band, there hasn't been a formal release in the United States. We long for the Mi Band's simplicity and uniqueness, yet Xiaomi has yet to acquire the same level of awareness in the ultra-competitive smartwatch market.
