The four-year-old Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch is all set for a new firmware update. The Gear S2 has not seen any major updates in the last couple of years. Looks like the company has not forgotten to give attention to its older smartwatch model in a sea of newer ones. It was spotted by Sammobile that the new software update will bring a better battery life and improved security features to the Gear S2 smartwatch. But the extent of the new update is not exactly clear and whether the update is limited only to the Gear S2 watches in selected territories. The file that is about 6.79 MB is yet to arrive in the app. Once it comes, the users will be able to download it from the Galaxy Wearable app by going to the option Watch Software. Within that, choose Download and install and the updated software will all be yours for an extended battery life and security of the data in your Gear S2. There are also reports that suggest that the update will also bring the interface of the companys latest smartwatch, Galaxy Watch Active 2.This update comes as a surprise from the Samsung company, along with the rumours that are in the air that the company is at the verge of launching one of its flagships, the Galaxy Watch 2. With this firmware update, Samsung proves that the continued support for the older models cannot be knocked down. And to the owners of the Samsung Gear S2 launched in October 2015, this update from Samsung will definitely be a piece of happy news, especially for the longer battery life.
