Huawei has released a major upgrade for the Watch GT 2 as part of its ongoing support for its low-cost wristwatch line. The Huawei Watch 3 may have displaced the GT watch line, but a new update for the GT 2 is delivering a slew of new capabilities, according to Huawei Central. First and foremost, the Huawei Watch GT 2 may now be secured with a password. There is also a vast array of enhancements geared for sports and running. Pace zone support will allow runners to use the GT 2 more efficiently to sustain speed, which will be beneficial for both training and competition.Furthermore, users may now choose to keep the screen constantly on when exercising, eliminating the need to raise the phone to wake it up. This will also keep workout metrics accessible, allowing you to track your progress. This will be useful for those who perform HIIT exercises and functional fitness and want to keep track of their stats but are unable to elevate their wrists when carrying weights. Outdoor sports will also display sunrise/sunset statistics, allowing you to verify that the light will last until the conclusion of your workout. Finally, menstrual cycle monitoring has been improved, with more options available on the watch. It's a substantial upgrade for the GT2, and many of these capabilities aren't yet available on the larger, more powerful Watch 3. Given the strong relationship between the GT's features and Harmony OS, it's possible that this upgrade may arrive soon. It's a busy moment for Huawei, which appears to be working on new smartwatches following a relatively quiet year. Blood pressure monitoring from the wrist is said to be possible with the Huawei Watch D, according to rumors and conjecture. There are also rumors that the GT 2 series will be redesigned with a sporty twist, and that the Huawei Watch Fit 2 will be released.
