The Big Reveal of HTCs Vice Cosmos
, by raj, 1 min reading time
HTC has revealed the final design and resolution of its new high-end VR headset, the Vive Cosmos. The final version is available on the company's Facebook page. The Cosmos features a new vented front and two additional cameras for six-degrees-of-freedom tracking. The headphones are presumably detachable. As per HTC, the Cosmos will have a combined resolution of 2880 x 1700, and will run games at 90 frames per second. Its RGB panels use subpixels to improve clarity and reduce the screen door effect. The Cosmos will in all probability require a PC to run, though there was some talk of running the headset off a mobile device.Cosmos will run Vive Reality System, a brand new user interface. It allows you to enter a world called Origin with its updating art galleries, games and tools to create things. From there, you can use a new feature called Lenscan to jump into apps and games. The Cosmos is a premium, high-end system and is slated to ship in Q3 this year.
