The ECG and blood pressure monitoring features from Samsung were only approved for use in South Korea and the US. But now these features have received European approval and are live in many new countries. The Samsung Health Monitor smartphone app can now be downloaded in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. In addition to Europe, these features will be rolled out in Chile, UAE, Indonesia, India, Japan and China. However, theres not a firm date on roll out in those countries. When it comes to ECG, Apple leads the way followed by Fitbit. However, Samsung has a significant lead in blood pressure monitoring. But the feature does require validation against a traditional cuff once in a few weeks. You also require a Samsung smartphone and Galaxy Watch. We also heard a rumour that Samsung is looking to incorporate non-invasive glucose tracking to its next smartwatch in 2021.
