Samsung is to introduce an ECG feature in its next smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Active 2. The device will also have fall detection support. This Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will succeed the Galaxy Watch announced in February and will rival the Apple watch. Having the option to take an ECG on the wrist helps users gather heart rate data that they can then share with their physicians, and this is turn can help in the early diagnosis of certain health issues.Samsung will of course need to get the necessary approvals and the hope is to see this feature when the Watch Active 2 launches. It is believed that the Active 2 will also be able to offer notifications for atrial fibrillation by monitoring the heart rate rhythms in the background. This feature is also already available on the different Apple Watch models. A fall detection feature may also be included. This will identify if the individual wearing the watch has experienced a hard fall, and it can alert or contact emergency contacts/services. Though these details are from trusted sources, it is not necessary that they are present when the Active 2 is unveiled. The first Samsung Galaxy Watch Active was launched with the promise of a blood pressure tracking feature that would take blood pressure readings without the usually needed cuff setup, but most users had an issue with getting that feature to work.We sincerely hope that as Samsung moves ahead into health monitoring that the features work and are easier to use. The Active 2 is expected to be available in two model sizes similar to the Galaxy Watch. One model may even offer LTE connectivity. This watch is expected at Samsung's unpacked event, along with the next Note smartphone.
