Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 was released in the month of September in 2019. The company announced that the watch will be updated with the ECG feature as well as fall detection by the first quarter of this year. This is basically a bite out of Apple Watch Series 5 but for a lesser price. The watch that will enable the user to take an electrocardiogram from the wrist and will also monitor the users heart rhythm, is still waiting for approval from the FDA in the U.S.Fall detection may not require clinical permission but the company would want to roll it out only after the feature is well tested. Apple Watch Series 4 was launched with ECG feature in the year 2018 and this feature, which turned out to be reliable, was carried over to the series 5 as well. Fall detection has also been added to series 5. Now, it is Samsungs turn to grab the market. What is an ECG? An electrocardiogram (ECG) records the electrical signals in your heart. During an ECG, sensors that can detect the electrical activity of your heart are attached to your chest and sometimes to your limbs. These sensors are usually left on for a few minutes to record any irregularities in the hearts function. Are you curious about how it works on an app and that too on a watch?The transition from the traditional method to an app on a watch is an amazing journey. The ECG app can record your heartbeat and rhythm using the electrical heart sensor on the watch and then check the recording for a form of irregular rhythm called atrial fibrillation (AFib). The results are found to be compatible with the regular ECG recordings. Samsung Galaxy Active 2 has been on the market since September 2019. Soon the updated version with ECG app and fall detection will be out for us to own.
