In 2022, Apple will release a rugged Apple Watch, as well as a redesigned Apple Watch SE

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the creator of the Power On newsletter and possibly the best-connected Apple-watcher on the planet, has confirmed that the tough Apple Watch project will be completed in 2022. He expects it to be released alongside the Apple Watch SE 2 and Apple Watch Series 8 models.Gurman has already addressed this rumor, revealing its existence in March 2021.The tough Apple Watch is touted to be built for extreme activities, with increased scratch resistance and, we assume, water resistance.The latest Apple Watch has a water resistance rating of WR50, which means it can withstand water for up to 50 meters. However, Apple's instructions state that 'high-velocity water should be avoided, which means that some sports are out.It would bring a new group of customers to the Apple Watch, albeit we believe there would have to be some compromise on battery life. Adventure sports watches often have a battery life of weeks and provide GPS tracking for days.A follow-up to the Apple Watch SE was also discussed in the Gurman newsletter.The SE was introduced in 2020 as a mid-range alternative to the Series 6 that lacked many of the features. The ECG and SpO2 sensors are absent, as is the always-on display.What may the Apple Watch SE 2 have in store? That is the most important question. Apple hasn't upgraded any SE devices in a long time and hasn't done anything to enhance the Series 3 one iota since its inception in 2016.
