In China, the long-awaited Huawei Watch D was launched, bringing blood pressure monitoring to the wrist as promised. To begin, the Huawei Watch D has blood pressure monitoring, which is accomplished via air pressure sensors that resemble a standard cuff with small air pumps. These airbags attach onto the polymer strap to capture wrist-based measurements, as we previously described. The Huawei Watch D box lists medium and large sized airbags, as well as a cover, so it appears that some tinkering will be required to capture blood pressure readings.Huawei claims that the blood pressure sensor in its Watch D is accurate to within 3 mmHg and does not require certification. With a GPS chip, there are 70 sports monitoring modes for recording outside exercises.Overall, the Huawei Watch D is a very comprehensive health and fitness watch, combining the popularity of devices like the Watch Fit and Band 6 with some real sensors that will give Apple, Fitbit, and the rest of the big competitors a run for their money assuming they operate efficiently and simply. However, it is rather costly - at least in China, where it will be sold initially. It will set you back Rs. 36,168. With the US's connection with China, FDA approval is unlikely to be released outside of China, but it is possible.
