The Connect IQ app for Dexcom blood glucose monitors has been released by Garmin, allowing users to check their readings on their Garmin device.
Garmin's app platform is called Connect IQ, and it can be accessed via the company's premium smartwatches and sports watches.
The Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) System customers may now view their blood glucose level on their wrist thanks to the IQ app, which is now available.
Users may observe current values as well as the three-hour trend.
It may also be displayed during exercises, complete with a data field displaying the current glucose level. It'll work with Garmin's Fenix 6, Vivoactive 4, Marq, and Forerunner 245 Music, Forerunner 745, and Forerunner 945 sports watches. It's also compatible with the Garmin Edge line of devices. Blood glucose monitoring is a major emphasis of health and wellness wearables, with the goal of making diabetics' life simpler.
The Holy Grail is a non-invasive blood glucose measurement from the wrist, but despite the efforts of everyone from Fitbit to Apple, the technology is still a long way off.
However, this hasn't prevented companies from including tracking into their networks. Data from Dexcom CGM devices may be be shown on the Apple Watch.
Fitbit has also included the ability for customers to manually enter their glucose levels into the Fitbit app. It recently announced a similar cooperation with LifeScan, which would allow glucose data from linked devices to be synchronised.
However, the search for a non-invasive blood glucose monitor that can be worn on the wrist continues.
