After complaints of people getting burnt by the gadget, Fitbit has issued a recall for its Ionic sports watch. In the United States, an official recall has been issued due to an alarming number of burns reported while wearing the Ionic wristwatch. Fitbit's GPS sports watch, the Ionic, was released in 2017 and was on the market until 2020.
There have been 115 instances of burns from the Ionic overheating, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, including two cases of third-degree burns and four incidents of second-degree burns. This is based on the sale of 1.7 million smartwatches in the United States and throughout the world. According to a CPSC statement, the consumers should stop using the recalled Ionic smartwatches immediately and contact Fitbit for pre-paid packing to return the item.
Fitbit would reimburse Rs. 22,621 to anyone who purchased the gadget, as well as provides them with a discount coupon for 40% off various Fitbit products. If you own a Fitbit Ionic and want to see if your model is impacted, look for the following product codes: FB503CPBU, FB503GYBK, FB503WTGY, and FB503WTNV. The majority of the gadgets, according to the CPSC, are Ionic watches with a polyurethane band in all body colors. Fitbit has been the subject of several products recalls in the past. The Fitbit Force was required to be recalled in 2014 due to skin irritation issues. However, this is unquestionably more severe, both in terms of the injuries experienced and the fact that the Ionic has been on the market since 2017.
