In addition, Google will give security upgrades for the older platform for two years.Fossil (and Fossil Brands)Existing Fossil smartwatches, including Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Emporio Armani, Skagen, and others, will not be upgraded. The next Fossil Gen 6 and Michael Kors Access 6 devices, meanwhile, have been revealed but, although debuting in Fall 2021, they will also require an over-the-air upgrade to Wear 3, and will not run the software out of the box.MobvoiThe only Mobvoi smartwatches that will be updated are the TicWatch Pro 3 and TicWatch E3. Google, on the other hand, cited the example that "features useful improvements such as the ability to operate the heart rate sensor constantly during the day, track your sleep overnight, and still have power for the next day." We warned you to keep your excitement in check.App switchingNew Wear improvements include fast app switching with a double touch of one of the physical watch buttons, which allows you to move between apps. The applications that are not in use can continue to operate in the background, allowing you to switch between them. The most recent apps will also be shown at the top of the new app launcher.Additional third-party TilesGoogle has already stated for the platform that it will open up the API for its Tiles widgets, allowing for more bespoke tiles to operate on all new Wear devices. As a result, you'll be able to get a snapshot of your day, complete with heart rate data and Active Zone Minutes.Park further stated that Fitbit will indeed be releasing health watches based on Wear leveraging Google's ambient computing capabilities, implying that Wear OS Fitbits will be available within the next year. And there came word of redesigned Wear OS applications, which by all accounts was the impetus for Samsung to re-enter the Wear OS fray with Google.Apps for Wear OS 3.0Strava, Adidas Running, MyFitnessPal, and Facer will be one of the "rebuilt applications" available. In addition, a new Spotify app will be introduced, which will integrate the offline playlist synchronization capability that was recently added to the Apple Watch Spotify app. In the video above, you can get a better peek at what's in store.Google is also working to improve its key apps, such as Google Maps, which will allow you to travel without your phone when it is released on watches later in 2021.
