Aura Devices Designs Smart Strap for Apple Watches
, by raj, 1 min reading time
Start-up Aura Devices has come up with an Apple Watch band which they claim can measure body composition, track hydration levels and evaluate heart failure risk using bioimpedance technology. This technology uses a 4-point electrode system to track weight loss and changes in the body, thereby delivering a more accurate breakdown of body fat and muscle mass percentage. The company is also claiming that the smartwatch band uses BIA-retrieved biomarkers to supplement the atrial fibrillation detection feature available on the Apple Watch to assess risks for heart failure. For assessments, you need to open up the Aura app on your smartwatch, push the button on the strap and hold the electrodes for five seconds. You can even sync the data with Apple HealthKit so that the information can be reviewed to better evaluate your current health status. The tech is housed inside a stainless-steel casing and is waterproof up to 50 metres. The smart strap is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 1 and later running iOS 7 and above. A replaceable battery powers the accessory and it lasts for up to nine months. As per Aura Devices, this smart strap will be available in the second quarter of 2019 for 6,500 INR and it will be available in a range of colors.
