In 2022, there will be a new smart ring in town, with Movano announcing the debut of a whole new gadget. The Movano Ring is designed for women and includes health sensors, putting it in competition with the new Oura Ring and products like the Fitbit Charge 5 and Whoop 4.0. Consumers have been showing interest in smart rings, but there have been a few high-profile misfires that have left the industry chilly. Movano, on the other hand, is doing things a little differently.First and foremost, it's designed for ladies, so it's far more fashionable than anything we've seen previously. Oura isn't ugly, but it's conspicuous and big on the finger, making it difficult for ladies to wear. Under the hood, it's no slacker. The Movano Ring will track your heart rate, HRV, sleep, breathing rate, temperature, and blood oxygen levels. That will put it up against the Oura Ring, albeit some aspects may require FDA clearance. However, the business has stated that it is working to make its data more usable, and early pictures show it slicing and dicing its sleep data to demonstrate the link between sleep and exercise.Movano has also expressed interest in non-invasive glucose monitoring, gathering funds in July so this might simply be the first step toward more advanced finger wearables. In fact, Movano CEO Dr. John Mastrototaro told The Verge that the business was pursuing FDA certification as a Class II medical device, albeit this would be accomplished in phases. The device will be presented in full at CES 2022, but it will not be available until the second part of the year.
