Fossil has announced that Alexa compatibility would be added to its Wear OS smartwatches. A Fossil official told Wareable during a briefing on the new Skagen Falster Gen 6 that the firm was integrating Amazon's voice assistant and that the update will be available for watches running Wear 2.0 and Wear 3.0. Despite just the newest Gen 6 devices receiving the Wear 3.0 upgrade, it appears that the statement was designed to reassure consumers that Fossil is still dedicated to upgrading and developing its smartwatches.It's still working on getting smartwatches upgraded to Wear OS 3.0, like many other Wear OS manufacturers, and it's keeping quiet about the process and any agreements in place with Google. Engineers were still working on making Wear 3.0 to operate with Qualcomm hardware when it first released on Samsung chips, according to the firm. However, because Wear OS users are frustrated by the ambiguity, this statement comes as a welcome relief to existing Fossil customers. However, we still don't know a lot about how the integration will operate.We don't know if the Alexa experience would be audio-only or include text replies as we've seen on Fitbit devices. We'll have to wait and see whether there are any Fossil-specific instructions, according to Fossil. We won't have to wait long for Alexa to arrive at Fossil timepieces in early 2022. But, like the Wear OS 3.0 upgrade, no one knows when it will arrive.
