Update: The Fitbit Charge 5 is now available.
A big leak has revealed what might be the Fitbit Charge 5 the company's flagship fitness tracker is expected to undergo a significant redesign.
The pictures reveal a fitness band-style gadget with a big AMOLED display and a high-grade metal body, as supplied by famous tech leaker Evan Blass.
It confirms everything we've been hearing about the Fitbit Charge 5, including the removal of the monochrome display and plastic shell.
The Charge 4's screen was our biggest critique, as it dazzled us with a complex collection of capabilities and sensors but disappointing us with a mediocre display that lags behind competitors. The strap has also been updated, with a silicon band that resembles the Apple Watch's design and uses a pin and tuck mechanism rather than a traditional buckle.
However, while we have a fair sense of how the Fitbit Charge 5 will appear, we don't know if it will have any new functions.
Furthermore, there is a new aspect on the home screen: a bar that seems to be filled (or emptied) as the day passes. This may be a new way to monitor your daily objective, or it could be an updated version of Active Zone Minutes, which premiered on the Charge 4. It might also be something completely else.
Fitbit gadget leaks are nothing new, and we've seen Fitbit Charge renders every year thanks to Evan Blass. So, we'd say there's a very good chance these are the actual stuff.
But, as always, as soon as we receive official word and hands-on, we'll let you know.
