Spotify's Wear OS software is getting a boost, with offline syncing now available from the wrist. UPDATE 12 AUGUST: The updated software is now available, after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.It will be accessible in the next "few of weeks" for users of the new Wear 3 as well as older Wear 2 devices.Spotify has added the option to download playlists to Wear OS after years of barebones functioning. This allows you to listen to music without having to use your smartphone.Offline music synchronization has been available on Garmin and Samsung devices for some time, and now the Apple Watch has caught up. However, with the Galaxy Watch 4's introduction on Wear OS and the removal of Tizen, it appears like Google was keen to ensure that the gadget didn't regress in terms of functionality.Spotify has been busy providing offline downloading and streaming to its smartwatch applications, and the Apple Watch app recently received the same treatment. And Deezer has done the same, indicating that firms are finally realizing the potential of independent applications on the wrist after years of inactivity and poorly fitted wristwatch apps. The Wear OS has made the news. Spotify's upgrade comes soon after Spotify was featured prominently in Google I/Wear O's OS enhancements. If you missed it, Wear OS and Samsung's Tizen are merging to form a single operating system. Apart from being the most significant upgrade to Wear OS to date, the idea is that Samsung (and Fitbit) introducing products on the platform would make it far more desirable to customers and developers. The redesigned Spotify app was a big part of the presentation, and now it's been announced that it, too, will support offline syncing. This is in addition to YouTube Music, which will be available on Wear OS as well. This is great news for both platforms, as well as music lovers who wish to use their paid services away from their smartphones.
