The Watch GT from Huawei was a huge shift from the Watch 2, with the smartwatch embracing its own proprietary software, LiteOS instead of Google’s Wear OS. The change hiked the battery life to a whopping two weeks. The Watch GT was made available in the UK last year, but now Huawei has announced the US launch on 19 February.
You can currently pre-order the product on both Amazon and Newegg. The Graphite Black variant featuring a silicone strap will be available for 14,500 INR while the Saddle Brown with a leather strap will be priced at 16,500 INR. The US pricing is in line with the prices in UK. Featuring a built-in 420mAh battery, the Watch GT should offer up to 30 days in watch mode, two weeks in normal mode and 22 hours of continuous use including GPS tracking. The GT will feature a 0.6mm thick and 46.5mm wide stainless-steel case and a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with 454 x 454 pixel resolution.
In addition to GPS and a heart rate monitor, the GT also packs an ambient light and air-pressure sensor, and a range of exercise modes, including walking, running, swimming, cycling and hiking. This smartwatch also provides sleep tracking which has been developed in conjunction with Harvard Medical School. The Watch GT is compatible with both iOS and Android smartphones and all data is logged through the Huawei Health app.
