Xiaomi has released a new fitness tracker, the Mi Band fitness tracker, only for India. The Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 3i is a repetition of its previous generation fitness tracker but at an even lower price of 1,500 INR. The Mi Smart Band 3i loses the heart rate monitor to keep prices super low.
The rest of the features are along the same lines. It has a 0.7-inch AMOLED display with a 128 x 80 resolution, and it’s rated at 5ATM so you can take it for swimming and up to 50 meters underwater. It will notify calls and alert you on other notifications. The battery life is claimed to be 20 days on a single charge. Xiaomi’s low-price fitness trackers have been a success in the wearables market. This success mainly comes from the huge market it has in China. The Mi Band 3i is again targeted at developing markets.
The next thing from Xiaomi will be the Xiaomi Mi Watch which they announced last month. That will be the company’s first attempt to eat into the Apple Watch’s huge market share. That could be a big challenge, given the 13,500 INR price tag, which is much higher than its usual price range.
