With the new HTC Vive Pro Eye, HTC is at the top of the game when it comes to virtual reality. The new headset integrates eye tracking for foveated rendering.
Foveated rendering uses eye tracking in order to improve image quality of things you are looking at. The Vive Pro Eye has all the same specs as the Vive Pro but for a slightly tweaked design – its two outside cameras got a light blue highlight. According to Dan O’Brien, HTC Vive’s GM of Americas, the Vive Pro Eye came about because developers were demanding more.
The Vive Pro Eye will be launched in the second quarter of 2019, but its cost or where it’ll ship is still a secret.
