An insight into the matter by Adobe Digital showcases what the actual market scenario is regarding demand of the Smart Home and wearable technology. Talking about smart speakers, though the sale has gone higher from 28% to 58% in the first quarter of 2018, major brands have taken a step back in the current market and surprisingly many brands are not penetrating in this market. Adobe believes the voice-assisted technology like Amazon Echo and Google Home will make a huge mark in the coming years.
On the other hand, Smart Televisions have dominated at a large and every 9 out of 10 TVs sold are either Wi-Fi enabled or capable of internet streaming. Other smart home devices like smart bulbs and smart refrigerators are showing a decline in sales with each passing day. Only 11% is the sale quotient of smart bulbs in Q1 of 2018.
Coming to wearables, Smartwatches have shown a steady increase in the market. Though the number of watches sold has increased, the market penetration is still quite low. In the first quarter of the year, only 1 out of 5 watches sold are smart. It can be expected that this market will boom as time passes. Moreover, smartwatches will for sure take over fitness trackers in terms of health monitoring.
