Garmin has launched a new fitness tracker for kids – the Vivofit Jr 3. The tracker looks more like a watch, with a color display and a host of designs. Garmin has included Marvel editions as well as Disney Princess and Little Mermaid branding.
If your child is not into Marvel or Disney, they can pick from blue, camo and floral versions. The Vivofit Jr 3 tracks steps, sleep and active time just like any Garmin fitness tracking device, but it is gamified, and meeting goals will unlock various levels of a game inside the Garmin app. You can even set playtimes as a timed activity – and kids will get the stats of steps taken and distance covered, from their football practice, regular playtime and so on. There are also step goal challenges for the entire family. As kids probably won’t have their own smartphone, there’s a big parental assistant element. Parents can monitor their kid’s activity and sleep. You can assign chores to your kids and tie them to rewards on completion.
The Garmin Vivofit Jr 3 has a virtual coins reward system that can be redeemed by parents for chosen treats. The Vivofit Jr 3 is priced at 6,000 INR. The Marvel and Disney editions are exclusive to Target.
