Apple’s Beats brand is launching a more sporty, durable option to its second-gen AirPods: the PowerBeats Pro. These wireless headphones will be sold from 10 May, but you can pre-order starting 3 May. They are mostly a wireless version of PowerBeats3 earbuds. They featured Apple’s H1 chip, so these wireless headphones can use “Hey Siri” functionality that is if you own an iPhone. Like AirPods, they will be compatible with Android but for easier setup and connectivity, you need an iPhone.
Apple has revealed that each earbud will feature speech-detecting accelerometers plus beam-forming microphones for better clarity. You can take them with you to the gym as they are sweat and water-resistant. The PowerBeats Pro also come with Class 1 Bluetooth to reduce dropouts and offer longer range, so you can leave your phone in the gym locker and workout with PowerBeats Pro in your ears. So now you can use the two earbuds together or standalone. Just like the AirPods, if you pull the earbuds out of your ear, the music will instantly pause. These wireless headphones come four different ear tip sizes and a redesigned, adjustable ear hook for a better fit. Both earbuds feature volume rockers. In order to change tracks or control calls, you can push in the “b” button on either of the earbuds.
You get an impressive 9 hours of battery life, while the magnetic charging case offers 24 hours extra. In addition, with Beats’ Fast Fuel tech, you can charge the earbuds for five minutes to get 1.5 hours of playback, while 15 minutes of charging will get you 4.5 hours. The PowerBeats Pro will come in black, forest green, white and navy blue colors. But only the black variant will be sold in the US and UK on May 10. They will set you back by 21,500 INR. Apple says that the other colors will follow in the summer.
